Degrees Of Separation

Degrees of Separation is my new project, its loosely linked to the photo's of Linxi taken earlier, at least in style.

The idea is to have several series of six photo's, dealing with my personal and public life. Hopefully some narrative will be derived from the images and will give me a way to progress from this experimentation.

The series below is all taken in my bedroom.

Would it be really lame if I said it could be interesting to use the photos as an example of deconstructing the binary oppositions between what's considered 'private' and 'public'.

Technically, you made the 'private' photos of your room 'public' by putting them on here, so it sort of negates the 'private'-ness of them...or does it? Why were they private in the first place? And anyway, what actually can be defined as 'private'?

Maybe it's only the thoughts inside your head which you dont voice to other people that are really 'private'...

(which technically are the thoughts which you utilised to pick these photos anyway, ie. Why use one photo as opposed to another, maybe the 'private' photos are really the ones that you didnt put on here?)

...actually, itd be really cool if you worked out how you could do that, although you probably wouldnt want to put that on display...which is sort of the point...erm yeah, you know what i mean.

Sorry if youve thought of all that already, im on a bit of a deconstruction thing at the moment.
